The circle line effect is also great for creating a pattern fill. Hover your cursor over the icon and it will read “Add a concentric effect to the shapes”. The fourth icon adds a circle line effect. Each line is a new stroke so this adds more time to the project completion. The cross hatch and diagonal options can take time to complete. Here, we duplicated the text by right clicking > Duplicate. The diagonal or “Add a stripe effect to the selected shapes” option adds angled lines. Play around with the other line options such as the third option. The Angle will change the direction of the fill. Keep in mind, the fill you see, including gaps, is what will be foiled.ĭecreasing the Spacing value will add more lines and therefore a thicker “fill”. The cross hatch will be the fill created by the Foil Quill. You can also input a value to make things easier. The cross hatch can be made smaller or bigger by adjusting the Spacing slider. With the Sketch tool, filling the text will give a “colored in” result depending on the settings. So make sure that you have completed any edits to your text first. Or set your filter for Fonts and pick a search term like “script” or “handwritten” to narrow your choices for that filter. While you can get font files from many online locations, Silhouette offers fonts through the Silhouette Design Store. Simply go to the Design Store and search for “fonts.” Please note that some fonts may not be designed for optimal cutting, so be aware that not every font style will cut well with the Silhouette. You’ll find all fonts on your computer in the Text Style panel, where you can see Frequently Used, Recently Used, and All Fonts. Fonts installed in your computer’s fonts directory will show up as an available option for cutting letters once the Silhouette software is opened. You do not need to download these fonts separately into the Silhouette software. The Silhouette Studio® software can use any font installed on your computer that can otherwise be seen in word processing programs (such as TTF and OTF files).
